Cookies

This page explains how AstroLog uses cookies and similar technologies in AstroLog.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your session and keep you signed in securely.

2. Cookies we use

Cookie / storage Purpose Type
astrolog-session Keeps you logged in and maintains your session Essential
XSRF-TOKEN Protects forms against cross-site request forgery Essential
Theme preference Stored in your account (and applied in the browser) for dark / day / red-light mode Functional
Service worker cache May cache static assets if you install AstroLog as a PWA for faster loading Functional

3. Essential cookies

Essential cookies are required for AstroLog to work (sign-in, security, and navigation). These do not require consent under typical UK/EU guidance because the service cannot function without them.

4. Analytics and advertising

This installation does not use third-party advertising cookies. We do not currently load third-party analytics trackers. If that changes, this page will be updated and additional consent will be sought where required.

5. Open-Meteo (weather & places)

When you search for a place or request a weather suggestion, AstroLog may call the free Open-Meteo geocoding and forecast APIs from the server. Those requests include the search text or coordinates you provide. Open-Meteo does not require an API key for normal use. Location search and weather suggestions are optional — you can always enter coordinates and conditions manually.

6. Managing cookies

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential session cookies, you will not be able to stay signed in.
